Qualifier matches are some of the most exciting matches of
IPL. They are the pre-finals that decide the strongest of teams in that
particular season. Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and
Sunrisers Hyderabad qualified for the playoffs this year and the first
Qualifier match was between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in which
Mumbai won.
The Eliminator match that decides the team’s entry into
Qualifier-2 is between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad today and whoever
wins this match plays against Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 2. Sunrisers
Hyderabad’s entry into the playoffs can be considered luck up to some extent
but the hard work put in by the team cannot be completely ignored. Two teams,
KKR, and KXIP had earned the same number of points in the Leagues along with
SRH. But Sunrisers Hyderabad stood out because of the high run rate and managed
to get into the playoffs, thanks to its star players David Warner and Johnny
Bairstow.
Together David Warner and Johnny Bairstow managed to make
3-century partnerships in consecutive matches which kept the team’s run-rate
high since the beginning of the season. Their incredible centuries in a match
against RCB and consistent performance in the other matches had added to the
team’s overall run rate helping it stay on top of the other two teams. Though
the duo left, Sunrisers Hyderabad led by Kane Williamson is confident of its
performance in the upcoming match against Delhi.
Delhi Capitals earned a whopping 18 points alongside Chennai
Super Kings and Mumbai Indians and were the second team that qualified for the
playoffs. The team led by Shreyas Iyer managed to enter the playoffs for the
first time after 2012. Delhi Capitals comprises of some extraordinary players
like Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan, Colin Ingram, Colin Munro, Amit Mishra,
Chris Morris, Prithvi Shaw, Ishant Sharma, etc. The team has been performing
fantastically this season and if it repeats its performance once more, DC has a
good chance of getting into the Qualifier-2 against CSK.
Given this is the elimination match for either of the teams,
it is expected that the teams perform at their best and fight till their last
breath which makes the match interesting than ever. So, do not miss this match
that begins from 07:30 PM IST.
